Refund Policy

What is refundable on Bedwise, what isn't, and exactly how to ask for money back.

Effective: 8 July 2026Last updated: 8 July 2026

Refund windows and timelines below are reasonable defaults written for clarity. Please confirm the exact figures (and any statutory consumer rights that override them) before treating this as final.

1. Overview

Bedwise is software for managing PG living. Most money in the PG world — rent and deposits — moves directly between residents and owners and is only recorded in the app. The payments Bedwise actually collects online are limited to the booking reservation fee (from residents) and the subscription (from owners). This policy explains refunds for each.

In short: rent & deposit refunds are between you and your PG; reservation fees are refundable in the situations below; and subscriptions renew for a fixed period and aren't pro-rated.

2. Rent & deposits

Bedwise does not process, hold or route rent or security deposits. When you pay rent or a deposit, you pay your PG owner directly (cash, UPI, bank transfer, etc.) and the app simply records it.

  • Any refund of rent or a deposit is a matter between you and your PG owner, under the terms you agreed with them.
  • Bedwise cannot issue refunds for money it never received. We can, however, show both sides the recorded payment history to help resolve a dispute.

3. Reservation fee (residents)

If a booking flow charges a reservation fee to hold a bed, the amount is shown before you pay and is collected through our payment partner.

You are eligible for a full refund if:

  • the PG owner rejects or cancels your booking request;
  • the bed or room you reserved turns out to be unavailable; or
  • you were charged in error or charged more than once for the same booking.

A reservation fee may be non-refundable if:

  • you cancel after the owner has confirmed and held the bed for you, where the fee was clearly described as non-refundable at checkout; or
  • the booking is cancelled because of a breach of these terms or fraudulent activity.

Where a cancellation window applies, it is described in our Cancellation Policy. When in doubt, contact us — we deal with genuine cases fairly.

4. Owner subscription

  • Subscriptions are billed for a fixed period (shown before you subscribe) and are generally non-refundable once the period has started, since access is granted immediately.
  • If you cancel, your PG keeps its owner features until the end of the period you already paid for; it simply won't renew. See the Cancellation Policy.
  • We may make exceptions at our discretion — for example, a clear billing error, an accidental duplicate charge, or a documented service failure. Reach out and we'll make it right.

5. How approved refunds are paid

  • Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method through our payment partner.
  • Once approved, refunds are typically initiated within 5–7 business days. It may take a few extra days for your bank or card issuer to reflect the credit.
  • We'll confirm by email when a refund has been initiated.

6. Failed & duplicate payments

If a payment fails but money was debited, or you were charged twice for the same thing, it is usually auto-reversed by the payment gateway within a few working days. If it isn't, contact us with the date, amount and a reference (UPI/transaction ID) and we'll trace it.

7. How to request a refund

Email support@bedwise.in with:

  • the phone number on your Bedwise account;
  • what you paid for (reservation fee / subscription) and the amount;
  • the date and a payment reference (UPI ref, transaction ID, or order ID); and
  • a short note on why you're requesting a refund.

We aim to respond within one working day.
